Nihongo is a self-study language-learning aid for entertainment and educational purposes. It is not a school, a certified course, a qualification, or a substitute for a teacher or professional instruction. We make no guarantee of any learning result, proficiency level, or exam/JLPT outcome.
Vocabulary, readings, grammar points, translations, and example sentences are compiled from curated and open third-party data sources and generated in part by AI. They may contain errors, omissions, regional variation, or outdated usage. Japanese has many readings, registers, and schools of grammar that disagree. Verify anything important with an authoritative source or a qualified teacher. Slang and casual expressions are provided for awareness and may be rude, dated, or context-specific.
Parts of the Service use third-party artificial intelligence (e.g., Anthropic's Claude) to produce sentences, translations, explanations, conversation, and analyses of text and images. AI can be confidently wrong. Output may be inaccurate, biased, incomplete, or inappropriate, and may not reflect our views. It is not professional advice of any kind. Do not rely on it for decisions about health, legal, financial, immigration, safety, or other important matters. You are responsible for how you use AI output.
Translations and readings are study aids and are not certified, official, or legally valid translations. Do not use them for contracts, official documents, medical instructions, signage with safety implications, or any situation requiring a professional or sworn translator.
Sentences, readings, and other content shared by users are their own and do not represent us. We do not verify, endorse, or guarantee user content and are not responsible for it. Use judgment; report anything that violates our Community Guidelines.
Scan & Read and the voice features process images and audio you provide. You are responsible for what you capture. Do not photograph or record material you do not have the right to use (e.g., copyrighted pages, private documents, or other people without consent).
The Service relies on third parties (AI, hosting, speech, payments). We are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, or actions. Pronunciation audio and speech recognition are approximations and may be wrong.
Nothing in the Service is medical, legal, financial, tax, or immigration advice.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties and limit our liability as described in the Terms of Service. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
